Pioneering a groundbreaking integration of traditional southwestern pumice and adobe construction with some of the latest photovoltaic, hydronic and astronomical equipment available, this nine thousand square foot hacienda and observatory is characterized by its unique interpretation of a conventional courtyard scheme and its imposing, fortress-like mien.

The Morning Star Hacienda and Observatory spent nearly three years evolving from a modest and remote twelve-hundred square foot observatory torreon, into a palatial observatory and hacienda facility, integrating the torreon, and additionally featuring a conference room, and custom spa facilities. With its eighteen inch exterior pumicrète walls and its sixteen foot deep concrete caisson piers, this proposal for a private observatory facility promises to make an impressive and beautiful contribution to the desert landscape.
